Quando usado como "preferir", se aplica para fornecer uma alternativa à primeira opção mencionada.

É um termo de economia. Se refere à prática de mercado de reduzir o tamanho de um produto, mantendo o mesmo preço.

"The lecture was so boring that I couldn't stay awake."

No sentido de "chato" e "entediante".

"He always bores me with his long stories. I find this book to be a real bore."

Também usado como substantivo, "tédio" e "chato".

Neste caso, traço/feição se refere a características físicas, como feições faciais.

"The water from the broken pipe spilled out into the basement. All the shopping had spilled out of my bag. The crowd spilled out of the stadium after the game. She spilled out her troubles to me."

"Derramar": de forma acidental, não controlado, grande quantidade. | "Sair": saída massiva de pessoas ou multidões. | "Jorrar": sentimentos de forma descontrolada.

Também no sentido de "despejar". Quando acontece de forma intencional e controlada, com fluxo grande e contínuo. Usado também para descrever a expressão de desabafar e compartilhar sentimentos voluntariamente.

"Mike is sawing the board right now. He sawed a piece of wood yesterday. He has sawed a lot of logs."

"Apanhar": retirar frutas de uma árvore. | "Palitar": usar palito de dente.

"I forgot where I put the tweezers. I need to tweeze my eyebrows. She tweezed the stray hairs."

Como substantivo, deve ser sempre no plural. Quando verbo, o seu uso é mais restrito, usado no sentido de depilar com pinça, removendo pelos como sobrancelha, pelos faciais etc. Não é usado para depilar pernas com cera.

You can use it as "gloat over" or "gloat about". Example: "She's continually gloating about her new job."

Usado negativamente em relação a outra pessoa. Regozijar-se no sentido de alegrar-se de uma situação negativa de outra pessoa.

Can be used with "of" or "about". Examples: "Nobody should boast of his learning. Stop boasting about your wealth, it's not polite to flaunt it. She couldn't resist bragging about her amazing culinary skills after the dinner party."

"Outdoorsy people" is who enjoy spending time in natural environments and outdoor activities.

Também pode ser aplicado em outras pessoas. Por exemplo: "ela mesma fez isso".

"She was seemingly calm during the crisis, but inside, she was quite anxious. The puzzle was seemingly easy at first, but it became increasingly challenging as I progressed."

"One downside of living in a big city is the high cost of living. The downside of eating so much ice cream is that it can lead to weight gain."

"He exploited his workers by paying them low wages. His exploit of cheating in the game was widely criticized."

Geralmente de maneira injusta, oportunista ou negativa.

No sentido de descobrir ou estudar algo de forma neutra ou positiva.

"We don't have control over this situation".

No sentido de exercer domínio ou autoridade direta sobre algo ou alguém.

"They were giving out free samples left right and center. You should not be handing out your personal information left right and center. They have gone far and wide to find the best restaurant. The influence of the book was felt far and wide."

Também significa "em toda a parte".

It can be used with "over" or "about". Examples: "The information has caused quite a fuss. She made a fuss about the smallest things. There's no need to fuss about the details. She fussed over every detail of the event."

Também pode ser entendido como confusão, barulho, agitação e preocupação exagerada com pequenos detalhes. Se aplica ainda como verbo fazer confusão, fazer barulho, fazer agitação, se preocupar demais com pequenos detalhes e exagerar.

"He sued his neighbor over a property dispute. The restaurant may sue the food supplier for quality issues."

"She filed a lawsuit after the car accident. The lawsuit against the pharmaceutical company is ongoing."

"The book is over the table. Let's talk over the project. She cried over him. Don't cry over spilt milk. He sued his neighbor over a property dispute."

Pode indicar a causa ou motivo de uma ação ou evento.

Também no sentido de "aborrecer" e "aborrecimento".
